Jazz and the Zen State of Muslim Thinking
Muslim Comedians and Islamic Scholars Defy the Mullahs and Usama bin Laden
Ed. note: Did you hear the one about the 30 year old liberated (American) Muslim woman who couldn't find a good
man (to marry - for love)? Searching among her mother and father's (South Asian) countrymen; Black (African) Muslims,
Black (American) Muslims, White (American) Muslim (converts), (American) Arabs, and (American) Persians;
"they were either unattractive, or out of work, old, divorced, with kids, fat, and/or eat pork..."
So, what to do? Toss American "liberation" and love, and settle for an arranged marriage? That's what
her folks had already hoped for, 15 years earlier. [TO BE CONTINUED]

Bernard-Henri Lévy, Irshad Manji, Mehdi Mozaffari, Maryam Namazie, Taslima Nasreen, Antoine Sfeir,
Philippe Val, and Ibn Warraq, nor the Dan Pipes Manifesto signed by Charles Krauthammer and the Cheney
Bush White House neocon will make a dent in what they label
The New Totalitarianism.
This war will be won by utilzing knowledge as empowered through the spiritual dynamics of gratitude and
non-violence - the opposite of mental karate; something the non-religious writers, journalists, and
intellectuals can't possibly imagine. It isn't their fight. They could do more to help by staying at
home rather than participating in something they know absolutely nothing of. A giant step forward in
"winning" the war on terror would be to call off the west's do-nothing war on terror, which is a waste
of taxpayers's money, and is killing our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
There is a saying about the Sufi seeker, who "will not find enlightenment unless he is condemned
by at least 300 devout Muslims..."
Even for Muslims, the Creator of happiness and freedom also gave us Jazz and a Zen state of mind that
is wholly holy.
In western, we know such manifestations of holiness in little old ladies devoted to God, and doing Rosary
after Mass, and we observe the Sufi whose demonstrated and secret love for God Alone makes little old
ladies doing Rosary after Mass, and the Mullahs look like pikers.
So, the question is, what is a piker? OR, what is devotion instead of betrayal? OR, what is Jazz, a Zen
state that would cause the Muslim
mind to intentionally defy the hypocrisy of the Mullahs and Usama bin Laden? They are not an iota
better than the Great Satan who they are justifiably at war with - as proved by the fact that they
are at war with us too, who "seek" like the Sufi in 10,000 ways to experience happiness and freedom,
and to love God in Islam (peace) at the same time.
Who over the past thousand years have created "traditions" that the Mullahs expect us to abide by -
some even under the penalty of death for defying, and amputation, and whippings? Who among the Mullahs
dare think they own a woman's body and to enforce "traditional" mutilations? How can it be any different
to deny the sight of God's creation in the beauty of a sunset or in the beauty of a naked woman?
Did you hear the one about the
Monk who carried a woman over the stream? So's to not
be distracted from conscious contact with God, Monks weren't supposed to talk to women, let
alone touch them. So is seeing the beauty of a woman a distraction from love for God Alone? Who
among the Mullahs or Usama bin Laden can say where God's presence starts and ends? It is wrong
doing to say about God what one does not know or to impose religion (the Return to God) upon some
innocent bystander.
Did you hear the one about a never-released rendition of
Body and Soul by John Coltrane being discovered? 9 minutes, 37 seconds.
According to
the notes, "This performance
is clean - no mistakes at the start or the end, and no break downs in
the body of Body and Soul - and it is as fine as any rendition ever
made of this classic American ballad. Why either Coltrane or the
Impulse! label chose to ignore it, why this Body and Soul was never
released, is beyond comprehension."
In these modern times, it is mostly agreed that Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab and Sayyid Qutb are the two
main authoritative sources
for what the Taliban came to be in establishing a tradition of Islam (peace) that isn't Qur'anic - to fly
planes into buildings, killing Muslim office workers and others - in the Name of Islam, as Muslims.
It is understood that Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab made a deal with the Muhammad bin Saud more than 250
years ago, that explains why Wahabbi teachings prevail in Sa'udi Arabia, and are exported along with
Saudi oil, and paid for with petro dollars. The seeming anti-American, and anti-Great Satan rhetoric
of Sayyid Qutb, more so even that the anti-Sufi Wahabbi clap-trap justifies jihad - as wrongly
interpreted to mean flying planes into buildings is ok someway - even though we don't know to what
degree the US government was an actual accomplice, and that Usama bin Laden is a Lee Harvey Oswald kind
of patsy. The fact that the most powerful military and intelligence services in the world can't "find"
Usama makes us wonder why the FBI can't find the Anthrax killer. For reasons unbeknownst to us ordinary
folk, they don't want Usama or the Anthrax killer to be found.
One more note on Sayyid Qutb that explains why he came to hate America, and what Usama (and the west)
have intentionally or otherwise missed in the writings of Qutb.
When Qutb traveled to America in the 1950s, he saw how women and blacks were treated by the
white "Christians", and he saw how American capitalists (most obviously Standard Oil) exploited the whole
world - first buying cheap petroleum from the Middle East, and then just wasting it by shutting down
municipal railways, and along with the white
Christian capitalists in cahoots with Firestone (tires) and General Motors (busses), replaced
trolleys with the aforementioned busses and more cars than ever...
That
was in the 1950s. On the racism and exploitation of women score, and on the wasting of resources
for what we have learned to be
obscene profits, Qutb was right.
Many people don't know, Sayyid loved God more than all the Sufis and all the little old ladies doing beads after Mass
combined, and he was more experientially grateful than Gandhi was non-violent. [TO BE CONTINUED]
As Muslims, and westerners, we must re-evaluate the the writings of Sayyid Qutb, and lighten up on
denying (or covering) the beauty of women. See
